Kirkwood & Edgewood
The historic streetcar-suburb bungalows east of downtown are turning over faster than almost anywhere in the city — old homes bought, gutted, flipped, and sold, with new townhomes filling in around the walkable Kirkwood node. That churn makes for one steady job: renovation debris and the old furniture out in a single trip, and whole houses emptied same-day so a closing can go through. We carry it from inside the bungalow, quote it flat from a photo, and Georgia doesn't tax the service — so the number you see is the number you pay.
Built for the flip-closing clock
Kirkwood and neighboring Edgewood sit in the middle of Atlanta's fastest-moving bungalow belt. A 1920s house changes hands, a crew guts it, and within weeks it's back on the market — which means the calls we get here almost always come with a deadline attached to a contract. An investor needs the house empty before a buyer's walkthrough; a renovation just wrapped and left a debris pile and the old kitchen behind; a family is closing Friday and the sunroom is still full. Same-day and next-day clears aren't a premium add-on in this neighborhood — they're the normal speed, and we scope them straight from photos so nobody's waiting on an in-person estimate.
The signature Kirkwood load is really two jobs stacked together. There's the renovation and demo debris — torn-out cabinets, old flooring, drywall, fixtures, jobsite trash — and there's the furniture and appliances the last owner walked away from. Most haulers turn that into two separate visits. We take it in one: debris priced at $120 per cubic yard or as truck-fill, whichever is cheaper for the volume, and the furniture at its flat per-item price, rolled into a single photo-quoted number.
How it works
- 1. Send photos. The debris, the leftover furniture, or the whole house — you get an exact flat price back in seconds, not a vague range.
- 2. We lock the window. Same or next day when a closing needs it; we know the tight streets and street parking around Hosea Williams and the Kirkwood commercial node.
- 3. We carry it out and haul it. Debris and furniture in one trip, out of the house, donation-routed wherever a piece is still usable.
What we clear in Kirkwood & Edgewood
- Renovation & demo debris — cabinets, flooring, drywall, and fixtures, hauled in the same load as the old furniture.
- Whole-house move-outs — a bungalow emptied top to bottom, same-day for a closing.
- Flip & rental turnovers — the previous tenant's leftovers gone before the next buyer or renter walks in.
- New-townhome move-ins — clearing the old place, or the packing debris after you land in the infill.
- Single heavy pieces — a sofa, a mattress, a dead refrigerator, carried up and out of the house.
Kirkwood & Edgewood pricing

Does the City of Atlanta pick it up instead?
Not for a flip, and not on your timeline. The City of Atlanta Office of Solid Waste Services does run a bulky-item collection, but it's by appointment, scheduled to your regular trash day, single-family curbside only, and capped at 12 pickups a year, with a $343.10 fee if you go over the limit (call 311 to book). That model breaks down on every Kirkwood job: it can't meet a same-day closing, it won't take a construction debris pile or an apartment/townhome load, and it needs the pieces dragged to the curb yourself — where a refrigerator can't legally go without its freon recovered anyway. On-demand, full-service, carried out from inside at one flat price is precisely the lane the city program leaves open.
When Kirkwood needs us
The triggers here are almost always a date on a calendar: a closing that needs the house empty for the final walkthrough; a renovation that just finished and left the debris plus the gutted kitchen; a rental turnover between tenants on Oakview or Norwood; a whole-house move-out as a bungalow sells; or a townhome move-in where the old furniture has to disappear first. The constraints never change — narrow streets, no curb staging, a deadline — and that's the exact job we built this service around.
Why Kirkwood chooses JunkRabbit
- Same-day for a closing. Flip and turnover deadlines are the rule here, and we work to them.
- Debris and furniture in one trip. No two-visit runaround — the demo pile and the old sofa leave together.
- Carried from inside. No curb-drag on the streetcar-suburb streets — full-service, not curbside.
- Flat, tax-free price. One photo-quoted number, and Georgia doesn't tax the service, so nothing gets added at the end.
What Kirkwood & Edgewood customers say
"I flip bungalows in Kirkwood and the timing is always tight. They cleared a house full of demo debris and the old furniture in one load, day before closing, carried it all out — no dragging to the street. Flat price from the photos I texted."
"Bought our first house off Hosea and it came with the previous owner's furniture and a garage of junk. Same-day crew, hauled it up and out, donated what they could. The quote was the total — no tax tacked on."
"Turning over a rental near the Kirkwood square and needed it empty fast. They worked the narrow street, took the old mattresses and a broken fridge, and had it show-ready before the next tenant. Reliable flat pricing every time."
Kirkwood junk-removal FAQ
Same-day for a closing?
Usually — flips and turnovers here run on a contract deadline, so same or next-day clears are our normal speed in Kirkwood and Edgewood.
Reno debris and old furniture in one trip?
Yes — demo debris (cabinets, flooring, drywall, fixtures) plus the leftover sofa, mattresses, and appliances all ride in the same load. Debris is $120 per cubic yard or truck-fill, whichever fits.
Do you carry it from inside?
Yes. These streets are narrow and street-parked with nowhere to stage a pile, so we bring everything out of the house — no curb-drag, nothing left for the city to tag.
Where does the reusable stuff go?
Goodwill of North Georgia, the Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta, or Habitat ReStore; freon appliances get the refrigerant recovered; clean construction material is recycled where a facility takes it.
How much, and is there tax?
Flat and photo-quoted — $120 per cubic yard of debris, a $126 sofa, a $103 queen mattress, or a whole house as truck-fill (half $431, full $732). $75 minimum, no Georgia sales tax on the service.
Do you cover the new townhome infill too?
Yes — move-in packing debris, an old couch that won't fit up the stairs, or a full unit clear, all carried out and hauled.
