Worth checking both ways before you book. A sofa, loveseat, dresser and large dining table itemize to $126 + $119 + $126 + $163 = $534, but that same load fits a half truck at $431.
Why the basement skews the numbers here
If Atlanta totals run higher than a friend's in a flat city, this is why: the volume is below the living space.
The Piedmont terrain means daylight basements, walkout lower levels, under-house garages and split-foyers are standard across DeKalb, north Fulton and Cobb. Households here have somewhere to put things, so they do, for decades. The main floor of a Chamblee ranch might be a quarter truck. The basement under it is a full one.
The same thing happens above the garage. OTP subdivisions in Alpharetta, Suwanee, Milton and Woodstock have bonus rooms that function as attics, and a bonus room clears at three-eighths to a half truck routinely.
None of that costs extra in carry terms. It just means the honest answer to how much is a house here is usually one tier higher than people expect.
What nobody pays for
Worth listing explicitly, because these are the classic invoice surprises elsewhere:
- No stair charge. Fourth-floor walk-up off Boulevard or a basement in Tucker, same price.
- No long-carry charge. If the truck has to stage at the street because your driveway is too steep to back down — normal in Brookhaven and Decatur — that is not billable.
